Tariq Johnson, 39, was charged with operating as a 'major trafficker' in the multi-million operation, authorities said.

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — A city was among seven people charged for their alleged involvement in a major heroin ring and that stretched from Pittsburgh to New York, authorities announced Monday.

The ring was allegedly directed by 53-year-old Victor McKeever in Pittsburgh. A stash house was located in Queen, New York, and the narcotics were allegedly sold throughout Nassau County, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said.

Tariq Johnson, 39, of Englewood, was charged with operating as a major trafficker, and multiple counts each of drug possession, conspiracy, and using drug paraphernalia, Singas said. His bail was set at $250,000, with a $150,000 cash option, authorities said.

Authorities estimate that about 3.4 kilograms, with a street value of $750,000, was prevented from hitting the streets as a result of the investigation and arrests, officials said.
