Ex-Englewood Man Allegedly Assaulted NJ Transit Bus Driver
William Griffin, 72, allegedly punched and hit the bus driver with a radio, police said.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — A former city resident was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly punched a NJ Transit bus driver recently, police said.
William Griffin, 72, was arrested after police said he boarded the bus at the intersection of Lafayette Place and Rosemont Place Saturday at 3 p.m., said Detective Capt. Timothy Torell.
Griffin refused to comply with the driver's safety instructions and allegedly punched and hit the driver with a radio he had, Torell said.

Several Good Samaritans helped the driver during three different times Griffin reportedly attacked him until police arrived, the captain said.
An ambulance took the 49-year-old driver to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Griffin was charged with third-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree interference with transportation, and resisting arrest. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a court appearance, Torell said.
