Fire That Damaged Englewood Church Not Suspicious, Report Says
The First Presbyterian Church in Englewood is looking for a place to hold Easter services.

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. - The three-alarm fire that destroyed the sanctuary of the historic First Presbyterian Church a few days before Easter is not thought to be suspicious, authorities said.
Deputy Fire Chief Erik Enersen told The Record that no one was injured in the blaze. Firefighters fought the blaze for three hours before it was brought under control.

The fire may have started in a bathroom that was being renovated, but officials said in the report that it was too soon to tell where the fire began and what caused it.
No one was in the building when the fire occurred, the church said.

Church officials said in a statement on the church website they are "taking things one step at a time." They are looking for a place to hold Easter services.
"The church is people, not buildings. We worship Jesus Christ who was raised from the dead, and his church will not be deterred. The Easter message of Resurrection should have special meaning for us this year," the church said in a statement on its website. "This is a time to witness to our faith in Jesus Christ."
