Man Sent Anti-Semitic Letter To Englewood Business: Prosecutor

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — A Bergen County man was charged with making terroristic threats and harassment after he allegedly sent an anti-Semitic letter to local a city business and homophobic and threatening messages to police officers in three Bergen County towns, authorities said.

Nikolay Levinson, 34, of Palisades Park was arrested Tuesday, about two weeks after the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office received information that three police officers from Paramus, Fair Lawn and Garfield received harassing and threatening letters, said Gurbir S. Grewal, Bergen County prosecutor.

During that same time frame, several local businesses received letters containing racial, homophobic and threatening messages, Grewal said. Businesses and Englewood and Allendale also received letters containing anti-Semitic and racist remarks while the prosecutor's office was investigating the letters sent to the police and businesses, he said.

Levinson was arrested in Palisades Park, Grewal said. He was charged with two counts of terroristic threats, three counts of bias intimidation and four counts of harassment, the prosecutor said.

Levinson is being held in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing Monday.
