Man With Gun Impersonated Cop, Pulled Woman Over: Police

TEANECK, N.J. - Authorities are looking for a man armed with a gun they said impersonated a police officer when he pulled a woman over Saturday morning, said police Chief Robert A. Carney.

A woman was driving north on River Road at 11 a.m. Saturday when a blue, four-door vehicle pulled out behind her, Carney said. The car had a blue light lit up on the dashboard, which caused the woman to pull her car over.

The vehicle pulled in front of the woman's car and a man who said he was a detective got out and told her she was speeding, the chief said.

The man had his hand on a holstered gun on his right hip when he spoke with the woman, Carney said. The woman thought the man was not a police officer and drove away.

The man was described as white, in his 40s, five feet, nine inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, police said. He had "dark, buzz-cut" hair, dark eyes, and a scar near his left eye. He was wearing a black Carhartt sweatshirt with a gold zipper, a white undershirt, and dark-colored pants.
