ENGLEWOOD, NJ - A video of a police officer using a stun gun on a man who allegedly threw a punch at a man Sunday has hit the Internet.

Two men — Varian Hooks and Jason Eaves, were arrested after police saw "drug distribution" near 31 Mattlage Place, Capt. Timothy Torrell told The Record Tuesday.

According to Torell, police approached Hooks, 25, who refused to cooperate and attempted to "discard marijuana," the report said.

The video opens with a man, reportedly Eaves, 26, being arrested on the street, NJ.com reported. He was struggling with police as they attempted to place him in handcuffs, the video shows. He tries to get cash out of his pocket while police tell him to stop resisting and tell people to "back up," the report said.

The man was pulled into the middle of the street and struggled with three officers. They wrestle him to the ground and attempts to get back up when an officer tased him, the video shows.

Torell told The Record that it was Eaves who resisted arrest, was tased, and brought under control, the report said.

Eaves was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstruction. Hooks was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, and disorderly conduct, police said.

A recent policy change announced by Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman allows authorities to use a stun gun against someone armed with a weapon if that person refuses to drop the weapon or "actively" resists arrest.
