Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Inc., Receives $50,000 Grant from Oritani Bank

Township of Washington, N.J. (December 17, 2014) – The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation, recently granted $50,000 to the Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon (AaSP) Inc., a grassroots non-profit organization located in Fair Lawn, NJ, whose mission is to improve the morale of our troops and their families. AaSP has impacted tens of thousands of American Warriors through an all-volunteer “federation” of core supporters.

The organization currently has two initiatives, Operation Combat Care, which has two main focuses: support of wounded that have returned home and need care, especially at Walter Reed National Medical Center and support of wounded at medical facilities overseas, and Operation Troop Morale, which supports morale, welfare and recreation activities and includes distribution to troops serving abroad with recreational items.

The funds for Operation Troop Morale will go to purchase TRX force kits for holiday gift cartons for NJ soldiers and Special Forces units. TRX force kits are used to promote morale and exercise. The funds for Operation Combat Care will go towards purchasing iPod touch players for the wounded in TBI programs at medical facilities overseas. TRX force kits will be distributed at holiday & Super Bowl parties at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for use in their rehab programs.

We are about to make a lot of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen very happy!”

AaSP’s Operation Combat Care Program will extend the use of the grant to provide aid and support to combat surgical hospitals in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Germany and Walter Reed Med Center for military personnel and veterans who were wounded or injured during their service. It also helps those transitioning to civilian life with permanent injuries.
