Bergen County Doctor Allegedly Bilked Medicare, Insurance Out Of $280K, Authorities Say
Albert Ades, 60, allegedly billed government agencies and insurance companies for office visits that never occurred, authorities said.

A Bergen County doctor cost Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance approximately $280,000 due by falsifying patient records for years, authorities said Monday.
Albert Ades, 60, of Englewood, pleaded guilty to health care fraud before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas in Newark federal Monday, said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.
Ades allegedly billed Medicare, Medicaid, and various private insurance providers for patient office visits that, Fishman said, never occurred.

Ades wrote prescriptions, authorized prescription refills, and “performed other tasks” for 10 years, from 2005 through June 2014, without ever seeing patients on the dates he said he saw them, Fishman said.
Ades admitted to authorities Monday that he also changed blood pressure readings and notes in patients’ medical charts to make it appear as if they had visited Ades’ office on the dates he allegedly billed them for, authorities said.

Ades also admitted that between 2009 and 2013, his scheme caused Medicare, Medicade, and private insurers to lose approxiamtely $280,000, Fishman said.
Ades had offices in Cresskill and Little Falls.
Ades could serve up to 10 years in prison and be fined $250,000 when he is sentenced Nov. 16.
