Man Charged With Manslaughter After Accident That Killed Fair Lawn Woman

Olga Ilina, 54, died after the Subaru she was in collided with a Dodge minivan on the Henry Hudson Parkway, police said.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A man was charged with manslaughter in motor vehicle crash that killed a Fair Lawn woman on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan Tuesday night, police said.

Jean Herrera, 23, allegedly stole the minivan and was going North on the South side of the parkway when it collided head-on with a 2008 Subaru Olga Ilina was a passenger in, New York City Police said Thursday morning.

Ilina, 54, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital on the West Side and was pronounced dead, police said. The 53-year-old Subaru driver's identity was not released, but that person was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Besides manslaughter, Herrera was charged with two counts of assault and leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and license plate violations.

A passenger in the minivan has not been charged. Authorities are continuing to investigate.
