Fair Lawn Lawyer Charged With Theft

Jonathan Greenman allegedly also practiced law while his license was suspended, authorities said.

A Fair Lawn lawyer was charged with theft after he allegedly took money for real estate transactions he never completed, authorities said.

Jonathan Greenman was allegedly paid for a deed recording and realty title and transfer fees, but he did not complete the transactions, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.

Greenman’s license to practice law was suspended Feb. 20, Molinelli said.

He allegedly represented a client in a family court matter and did not inform the the client of the suspension, authorities said.

Greenman was charged with one count of theft by failure to make lawful disposition and one count of unauthorized practice of law.

Greenman was arrested and sent to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Municipal Court Sept. 24.
