Fair Lawn Man, 69, Suffers Serious Injuires After Being Hit By Van Tuesday Morning: Police
The man was crossing the street at Fair Lawn Avenue and Orchard Street when he was struck, police said.
FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A 69-year-old borough resident suffered injuries after he was hit by a vehicle trying to cross the street at Fair Lawn Avenue and Orchard Street Tuesday morning, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was struck by a 2006 Ford Econoline van at 8:18 a.m. driven by a 33-year Elmwood Park man, said Sgt. Brian Metzler. It is not know if the man was in or out of the crosswalk when he was struck. The man reportedly suffered injuries to his head, as well as internally, Metzler said.
Metzler said the injuries were "serious."

The driver was trying to make a right-hand turn onto Orchard Street when he struck the man, Metzler said.
Members of the Fair Lawn Ambulance Corps took the man to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson.

Metzler said the investigation is ongoing and did not know if any charges had been filed against the driver.
