FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A borough man accused of assaulting his girlfriend to the point that she needed emergency medical attention was arrested Wednesday, Gurbir S. Grewal, Bergen County's acting prosecutor, said in a news release.
Steven Duckack's girlfriend went to a Smith Avenue residence at about 5:41 p.m. Sept. 23 to pick up a female acquaintance and was assaulted by Duckack, who lives a few houses away, Grewal said.
During the alleged assault, the woman sustained "facial injuries" to the point she needed emergency medical attention, the prosecutor said. She was taken to St. Joseph's hospital. The woman's condition steadily worsened since. She was listed in critical condition Thursday, Grewal said.
