Fair Lawn Man Charged With Drunk Driving After He Crashes Car: Police
Eugene Laplant, 64, failed a field sobriety test and left the scene of the crash, police said.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A borough man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police stopped his vehicle Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Officers Robert Manning and Michael O'Brien responded to Eastern Drive at 20th Street at 4:48 p.m. on a report of a motor vehicle crash, said Sgt. Brian Metzler.
The driver, Eugene Laplant, 64, was arrested after he was unable to perform a roadside sobriety test, Metzler said.

Laplant was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, and failure to maintain a lane, police said. He was released to a family member.
