Fair Lawn Police Department Participating In Project Medicine Drop

21 municipal police departments in Bergen County are participating in the statewide initiative.

FAIR LAWN, NJ – The borough police department is accepting unwanted and unused prescription medications as part of Project Medicine Drop.

Residents may drop off the medication at a special drop box at police headquarters 24 hours a day.

Covanta Energy destroys the medications at no cost to taxpayers or departments.

The initiative is designed to eliminate the temptation of people, especially children, to go through medicine cabinets and find and take medications. It also prevents the medications from being flushed down the toilet, polluting the environment.

More than 100 police departments, sheriff’s offices, and State Police barracks are participating in Project Medicine Drop.
