Fair Lawn Police Officer Ed Egan Remembered
'Ed was a person who always put everyone in front of himself,' Chief Glen Cauwels said. Egan died Monday of cancer and had heart issues.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Ed Egan always put himself before others. He would do anything for anybody.
Egan died Monday night after battling heart issues and cancer for months. Still, he went to work on light duty. That was typical Egan. (See related: Fair Lawn Police Officer Ed Egan Died Monday)
"He loved being a police officer and you could always count on him," said Fair Lawn Police Chief Glen Cauwels. "He was funny, he loved life and he was a great friend. I know I speak for the entire department when I say, 'he will be truly missed, but not forgotten.'"

Egan was a firefighter with with Fair Lawn Fire Co. 2. As a police officer, he was a state delegate for the Fair Lawn Policemen's Benevolence Association Local 67. His friends, colleagues, and others expressed their condolences and kind words after news of his death spread.
