Fair Lawn Resident Charged With Drug Possession: Police

Here is a look at police activity in town from the previous week.

A borough resident was arrested after police received a report of suspicious people in Everett Park just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Four police officers responded to the scene, and after police found evidence of marijuana use, Illya Minenkov, 19, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Davon Johnson, 23, of Fair Lawn, was arrested Aug. 18 after police discovered he had an arrest warrant out of Morris County, authorities said.

Johnson was at Fair Lawn police headquarters reporting an incident that occurred in Paterson when police discovered the warrant, authorities said.

Johnson was handed over to the Morris County Sheriff's Department, police said.

Aug. 17

Office John Rovetto initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 at Promenade Boulevard and arrested the operator, Douglas Plantamura, age 23 of Warwick, N.Y., after evidence of drug use was located inside the vehicle, police said. He was released after being charged with possession of hypodermic needles, delaying traffic, and operating with a suspended license, authorities reported.

Aug. 19

Officer Juan Rodriguez approached a suspicious person walking on River Road near Maple Avenue and arrested Willie Buckingham, 30, of Clifton, after evidence of drug use was handed over to the officer upon request, police said. Arrest warrants were discovered out of Totowa and Fair Lawn, authorities said. Buckingham was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, then sent to the Bergen County Jail, police said.

Detective Anthony Lugo approached a suspicious male walking on Broadway at Hartley Place and arrested Frederick Sosa, 22, of Paterson, after he handed marijuana over to the detective upon request, police said. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, authorities said.

Aug. 22

Officers Michael Van Ness, Eric Eleshewich, and Nicholas Snyder responded to CVS on Fair Lawn Avenue on a report of a suspicious parked vehicle and arrested a passenger, Jordan Stevens, age 28 of Saddle Brook, after evidence of drug use was discovered, police said.

Stevens allegedly gave a false name to the officers and had an arrest warrant out of Bergen County, police said. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles, and hindering apprehension, then was handed over to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, police said.
