HeartStrings – Harmony Celebration Chorus’s Newest Quartet Performs at American Legion Veterans Party

Dec. 6th, 12 Noon – 1:30pm

American Legion Post #128, 650 American Legion Drive, Teaneck, NJ
The American Legion Veterans Annual Christmas Party will be given by the Teaneck American Legion for elderly veterans. This year, entertainment will be provided by HeartStrings, HCC’s newest quartet.

Members include Heather Collins, tenor; Tricia Martini, lead; Carole Harrison, baritone; and Elizabeth Harris, bass. HeartStrings will be performing a short program of Christmas/holiday songs and possible selections from their repertoire which will include a sing-along. All guests will be invited to sing “Here Comes Santa Claus” and Santa will arrive.

This is the 25th year that Frank Vopasek, a former teacher at Bergen Tech High School in Hackensack, and a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran, has been helping host this party. His wife, Helen, a tenor with Harmony Celebration Chorus (HCC), a Ridgewood-based chapter of Sweet Adelines International, fills in as Mrs. Claus. The guests, about 20 or so elderly residents from the veterans home in Paramus, are brought to the party and treated to a hot luncheon, cards, gifts, entertainment, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

All are welcome to participate in refreshments. Items for the Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program will also be collected.
