SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — A homeless woman pushing a shopping cart was struck and killed crossing Route 46 early Monday morning, authorities said.
The woman, 35, was walking from the Saddle Brook Center when she crossed the highway against the red light at the crosswalk and was struck by a vehicle on the eastbound side at about 1 a.m., said police Chief Robert Kugler.
Kugler said the driver heading east had a green light to go.
