Several North Jersey Schools Closed After Armory Fire

An overnight fire broke out at the Paterson Armory, prompting the closure of area schools.

A ”serious” fire at the Paterson Armory on Market Street in Paterson has closed several North Jersey schools today, Tuesday, Nov. 10.

According to the Paterson School District, the following schools will be closed due to the fire, which broke out overnight: Eastside High School, School 11, School 15, Roberto Clemente Elementary, New Roberto Clemente Middle School and Madison Early Learning.

According to NBC News, 200 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which started shortly before midnight. Officials told the network that 5,000 gallons of water per minute were needed to extinguish the flames.
