UPDATE: Students Climbing Out Of Window Prompted Lockdown At High School
Criminal charges were not filed against the students, police said.

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. - Three students climbing in and out of a window were the cause behind the lockdown Elmwood Park High School Friday, Chief Michael Foligno said.
Police responded to Elmwood Park Memorial High School and Middle School shortly before 12:40 p.m. on a report of an intruder, Foligno said.
Two students told a teacher they saw a man wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt enter the school through an open window, Foligno said.

Officers from the Bergen County Sheriff's, Fair Lawn Police, and Garfield Police Departments set up a perimeter and searched the building. A K-9 unit from the sheriff's department was also at the school.
The lockdown was lifted at 2:18 p.m., the chief said.

Authorities interviewed witnesses, reviewed surveillance video, and identified three students climbing in and out of a window, Foligno said.
The students climbed in and out of the window to see if they could enter and exit the building that without without being seen by staff, the chief said.
No weapons were involved and no one was injured, Foligno said. No criminal charges against the students involved were filed.
Foligno said the school district "handled the situation accordingly."
