Repeat Fair Lawn Church Burglar Caught: Police

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A Paterson man was arrested Tuesday after fingerprint evidence linked him to two burglaries of borough churches in March and April of last year, police announced.

Warren Point Presbyterian Church and Our Saviour Lutheran Church were burglarized on March 22 and April 4 in 2015; laptop computers and cash was taken from the churches, said Sgt. Brian Metzler.

Authorities collected evidence, including fingerprints, from both crime scenes and on Tuesday, Detective Anthony Lugo and Detective Sgt. Tim O'Shaughessy went to the Bergen County Jail and charged Roberto Quinones, 43, of Paterson, with two counts of burglary and theft, Metzler said. Quinones was in the Passaic County Jail on unrelated charges.

Quinones also broke into churches Teaneck churches in 2015 and assaulted a priest, Teaneck Police Chief Robert A. Carney said at the time.

Quinones was charged with burglarizing 24 vehicles in Clifton in December of 2015, NorthJersey.com reported.
