Sometimes not giving up is a good thing, for both the owner and customer.
Such is the case for Yummy Hot Bagel, recently opened at 155 Route 17 South.
Brothers Sam and Rami Yehia (along with a third brother, who now owns a bagel shop of his own in Dumont), originally opened two Three Brothers Bagel shops, both in Hackensack, from 1993-2005.

And now the third, under a new name. But why Paramus?
“After we sold the others we were looking for location,” said Sam Yehia. "Paramus is a very good town with a big population, lots of diversity, lots of people, and high density business.”

And lots of those people and high density business clientele travel the nearby major roadways that travel through the heart of Paramus, a good thing.
Yummy Hot Bagel is more than just bagels. This is a full service deli with gourmet catering as well. There is an assortment of baked goods like muffins, croissants, cookies, Danish, crumb and pound cakes. There are also both breakfast and lunch wraps, including the Yummy breakfast wrap of three eggs, bacon, taylor ham, potato, onions and cheese, and Mr. Protein wrap of three egg whites and turkey in a wrap or on a plate, and lunch wraps like a chicken Caesar wrap, buffalo chicken wrap, or the grilled veggie wrap of mushrooms, zucchini, eggplant, onions, peppers, spinach and sundried tomato.
Burgers, grilled chicken, cheese steaks, pastrami and Reuben sandwiches are available off the grill, and an assortment of cold cut sandwiches from turkey, ham, roast beef, salami, bologna and more are available. If you’re looking to keep light, and homemade soups and salads are your favorite choice, they’re served here.
Six paninis are available for selection as well, including a California, Italiano, and Tuscan paninis. Yummy Specialty Sandwiches are a menu highlight here, and it comes with a free soda and ¼ choice of macaroni or potato salad, or coleslaw. Chicken breast, falafel, chicken, egg or tuna salad, roast beef and mozzarella cheese, and chicken cutlet parmigiana are just a sampling of the 20 sandwiches offered.
But when it comes to Yummy Hot Bagel, it's a safe assumption that when a customer pulls off of Route 17, they’ll leave with a bagel, or two -- or 13. Bagels come in regular and mini size, flagels (flat bagels), bialys (with an indentation in the middle filled with onion), and a baker’s dozen (that’s 13) for $9.90. An abundance of bagel spreads are available, as well as breakfast sandwiches on bagel, like bacon and egg, ham and egg, or sausage and egg, as well as grilled cheese and BLTs.
“So far it’s very good actually,” Sam Yehia responds when asked about Yummy Hot Bagel’s first four months in operation. “We felt very welcome from the first day we were open. It’s a good feeling.”
“Winter can be tough on business, so we’re looking forward to spring.”
