Bergen Train Travels Over Drunk Man Lying Between Tracks: NJ Transit

Man was not injured, a NJ Transit spokesman said.

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. - A man who was allegedly drunk was not injured after he lied down between the railroad tracks and a train passed over him Saturday, officials said.

The 1775 train was traveling from Hoboken to Suffern, New York when it traveled over the man, said Jim Simpson, a NJ Transit spokesman.

The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. near the Saddle Brook-Elmewood Park border on the Bergen County line, Simpson said.

The man was not injured, but was taken to an area hospital, Simpson said.

According to Simpson, Saddle Brook police charged the man with trespassing and interfering with transportation.

The train was delayed for about 40 minutes following the incident, Simpson said.
