Two-Time Fair Lawn Car Burglary Suspect Arrested

Police found Amir Montgomery in possession of a smartwatch, digital camera, and iPod they said were stolen out of a vehicle.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A two-time car burglar was arrested after police saw a suspicious man walking on 3rd Street Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Detective Anthony Lugo was in an unmarked police vehicle when he saw Amir Montgomery, 25, of Paterson, walking and stopped him, said Sgt. Brian Metzler.

Four police officers helped arrest Montgomery after discovering he had $700 in arrest warrants issued out of Paterson; police searched him and found a digital camera, smartwatch, evidence of drug use, a box cutter, iPod Nano, and battery charger, Metzler said. An investigation revealed that the items were stolen out of an unlocked vehicle parked at an office building at 17-10 River Road, police said.
