Hunterdon Law Enforcement Receive Active Shooter Training

County's Homeland Security Grant Funds Provide Active Shooter Incident Management Courses to First Responders

Training by C3 Pathways was provided to Hunterdon County law enforcement, fire, EMS and dispatch members in Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM), basic and advanced courses, June 18th through June 20th, at the Route 12 County Complex.

Freeholder Deputy Director John E. Lanza, the Board’s Public Safety and OEM liaison, said, “It is critical for the County to ensure that all First Responders are adequately trained on how to protect themselves, and the public, during an active shooter incident. This training saves lives. Nothing is more important than that simple fact.”

ASIM training is provided to all First Responders, no matter what rank or assignment they hold, and is an integrated response process with ten hands-on scenario exercises. The course is appropriate for street responders and leaders alike, with the goal to decrease the time to neutralize the threat and get injured to a hospital.

As a shared service with Warren County, participants learn and practice positions, functions and scenarios in over twenty different areas of training, from being the first responding officer to complex multi-site incident situations.

“We hear about active shooter incidents on a regular basis, world-wide. The Hunterdon County Freeholder Board recognizes how important it is to encourage training so that First Responders are armed with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect all those involved,” Freeholder Lanza said.
