
Lambrini Kolios, from Tenafly, recently received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship and will travel to Taiwan to teach English as a foreign language. She is one of seven students from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. to be awarded a Fulbright scholarship for the 2013-14 school year. Since Fulbright began awarding grants in 1951, this year marks the highest number of Rollins Fulbright recipients in one school year. To date, Rollins has produced a total of 48 scholars.
The remaining scholars who obtained the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship include Mike Gallace ’13 (Vietnam), Erin Buthman ’13 (Spain), Benjamin Varnum ’13 (Malaysia), Ryan Lambert ‘13 (Germany) and Alia El-Assar ’12 (Mexico). Anne Fertig ‘13 received a Fulbright scholarship grant and will study Scottish history, literature and language this fall at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. There were more than 700 applicants and Fertig was one of only 46 to receive this particular grant.

“The opportunity to participate in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program is a significant accomplishment in the academic careers of our students,” said Lewis Duncan, president of Rollins College. “The exposure to international cultures will help empower them to pursue meaningful lives and productive careers.”
