Throughout the months of January and March 2013, THE GYM of Englewood, NJ, THE GYM of Montvale, NJ and THE GYM of Armonk, NY conducted a variety of classes open to gym members and non-members alike, from which the proceeds were donated to two Make-A-Wish Foundation Chapters – New Jersey and Hudson Valley. As an added method of fundraising, “Sponsorship Stars” and T-shirts were available for purchase at THE GYM and were displayed on premises with the sponsor’s name – $10 for a “Display Star”, $15 for a “Magnetic Star”, and $20 for a T-shirt. The goal was to raise enough funds to grant the wishes of two children on the Make-A-Wish roster, and they were more than successful with combined proceeds reaching over $29,000!
Instructor-led classes such as Cardio Dance, Booty Groove, Bosu Pump as well as a St. Patrick’s Day Spin-a-Thon were included in this year’s Make-A-Wish Foundation program at THE GYM of Englewood, and participation exceeded everyone’s expectations.
“We are thrilled to have partnered with THE GYM Englewood!” said Todd Shellenberger, Vice President of Development for Make-A-Wish New Jersey. “It’s great to see that this organization continued its dedication to the community by helping to raise funds for children in Bergen County who are battling life-threatening medical conditions.” Victoria Holmes, General Manager of THE GYM and Nurit Chaseman, Group Fitness Director added, “We are excited about our new relationship with Make-A-Wish New Jersey. We are so glad that we were able to support such a worthy cause and touch the lives of children in need.”

The GYM of Montvale and THE GYM of Armonk participated for the cause hosting additional themed classes and events including 80's Spin, Tube Sock Tuesdays and Wear A Crazy Tie Day, adding thousands of dollars to the total – enough to grant the wishes of three children who wanted to “swim with the dolphins” and take trips to Disney World and Barbados. Together, all three locations were able to make a significant contribution to a worthy cause, and all parties involved are looking forward to participating again next year!
