Fort Lee’s New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera is known for developing the stars of tomorrow.  Artistic Director Lucine Amara announces boys, nine to eleven years of age, with a soprano voice are invited to audition on January 7, 2013 for the role of Gherardino in the grand, professional opera company’s premiere of Gianni Schicchi that will be presented on Sunday, April 21 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) in Englewood, New Jersey.

Open auditions will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the bergenPAC in the Cabaret Room, 30 North Van Brunt Street.  The application deadline is December 31, 2012.  An accompanist will be provided.

“We provide youngsters from the local area a stage to present and hone their talents.  For those beginning their singing careers, we offer the opportunity to learn essential stage skills, with a full orchestra, appear in full costume and much more,” said Amara, whose extensive career included singing 882 onstage performances with the Metropolitan Opera.
