Another Body Pulled From The Hudson River: Police

Authorities are investigating how, where, and when the man entered the water.

FORT LEE, N.J. — A body was recovered from the Hudson River Thursday morning, the second body pulled from the water in two days, authorities said.

Port Authority Police received a call at 10:30 a.m. of a body floating in the water one mile from the George Washington Bridge, said police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

The Harbor Unit located the man's body and transported it to Dyckman Pier in Manhattan, Pentangelo said.

The man was wearing red shorts when the body was found, police said.

It is unclear when, where, and how the body entered the water, Pentangelo said. Authorities are investigating and trying to confirm the man's identity and ethnicity.

It is the second body Port Authority Police have recovered from the Hudson River in two days.

A Clifton woman, Catherine Hughes, 36, jumped from the bridge's New York side Wednesday night, police said. Hughes' was the eighth suicide from bridge this year, police confirmed.

"Recovering two bodies from the water in two days, it's unusual, but it's not remarkable," Pentangelo said.
