Body Found Body found on Palisades Interstate Park Trail In Alpine, Police Say

Authorities are waiting on the results of an autopsy in the death of a 54-year-old Harrington Park man who was found dead in the Palisades Interstate Park in Alpine Sunday, police said.

The death of Hugh Degnen does not appear to be suspicious, Palisades Interstate Park Police said in a press release.

Offices Joseph Villone and Donald Liu responded to the scene and the caller directed the officers to the body’s location on the Long Path trail, police said.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced Degnen dead at the scene, police said.

Detectives conducted an investigation into Degnen’s cause of death, which does not “point to an outside influence or suspicious circumstance,” police said. An autopsy is pending.
