BLUEFIN TUNA FESTIVAL - The Monster is Baaaack in Edgewater!!!!!
Tuna are *flying - to Edgewater! *by plane - from Spain!
Watching a giant bluefin tuna being cut for sashimi - an annual event at the Japanese supermarket in Edgewater - was cancelled when Hurricane Sandy forced the Hudson into the market's parkinglot and shut down power throughout this region.
But - the event could be rescheduled, says Sae Akine, of Mitsuwa Marketplace.
"And this time its better - the tuna is fattier!", she says, as she quickly makes her rounds in the Japanese outpost on the Hudson. The tuna is being shipped from the ocean off Spain, as this post is being written! In the very cold winter water, the tuna fattens up and becomes even more delicious.

A giant tuna is hung in the Foodcourt, and sliced with the mastery of a Samurai swordsman, by sushi chefs who have "love and passion" for the 500-lb sea monster - and for an appreciative audience - as they spend this weekend, slicing a bluefin from 10-4 on Saturday, and 11-4 on Sunday.
Mike, "the fisherman from Long Island", will hold a Q and A with shoppers and onlookers - in English.
