Pianist, Dr. Fan Yang will be playing
24 Chopin preludes and close the concert with an virtuosic Tchaikovsky-Feinberg
scherzo. Chopin preludes are probably one of the most poetic works in piano
literature and it is only fitting to share them after a long, cold winter!
Dr. Fan Yang has been described as a "true artist of enormous
intensity and profundity." and " to everything, she brings rare
imagination, poetry, intelligence, and integrity--all projected with a
ravishing pianism."
Dr. Yang entered the Shanghai Conservatory at age ten. In the same
year, she won the first prize of Shanghai Youth Piano Competition and received
Best Performance Prize. Shortly after, she was invited to make recordings of
Chinese contemporary composers and also Brahms Transcriptions with the Shanghai
Conservatory Orchestra. Her performance activities also include a concert tour
in Japan with the Chinese Youth Performance Ensemble and a concerto
appearance with The Shanghai Radio Symphony at the Shanghai Concert Hall.
