Driver Had BAC 3 Times Legal Limit Following GWB Crash: Police

The driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, David G. McGough, 54, was disoriented, had bloodshot eyes and a flushed face, police said.

FORT LEE, NJ — A man who crashed his car Thursday on the George Washington Bridge had a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit, police said.

Port Authority Police responded to a crash on the bridge's lower level at 9:15 p.m.

The driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, David G. McGough, 54, of Milford was disoriented, had bloodshot eyes and a flushed face, said Joe Pentangelo, a Port Authority Police spokesman.

McGough staggered on his feet and failed a field sobriety test; a breath test was administered and showed McGough had a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit of .08, Pentangelo said.

McGough was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving.
