The Fort Lee Film Commission received a Bergen County Historic Preservation Award this week for its documentary “The Champion: A Story of America’s First Film Town.”
The film chronicles the history of the recently-lost Champions Studio Building in Fort Lee.
The film documents the studio’s history and that of the local film industry. The film, and the commission, advocates for the preservation of historic sites connected with “the birthplace of the American motion picture film industry.”
