Jewish Community Center Of Fort Lee Finalizes $6 Million Sale
Congregation looking to redevelop a property or build a new center.

The Jewish Community Center of Fort Lee is looking to take the next step after finalizing the sale of its Anderson Avenue facility for $6 million.
The sale was finalized June 1. Omuri Church, a tenant of the building for six years, purchased the facility.
Synagogue officials said they were not looking to sell the property, but Omuri mentioned it first.

“We realized it was an exciting opportunity for us,” said Marvin Josif, co-president of the JCC’s Board of Trustees. “We have big plans for the future. A new location is really just part of the whole picture.”
The congregation has options. The deal allows the JCC to remain at its current location for up to four years, but the congregation may decide to relocate before that window expires.

“Our goal is to redevelop a property or build something that will appeal to our existing congregants and attract new families to join our congregation and Hebrew school,” said Rabbi Kenneth A. Stern.
Although a search committee has been formed, the congregation will vote on what course of action to take.
The JCC of Fort Lee was founded in 1950 and serves a multi-generational congregation.
