Man Charged With Abandoning Kitten Covered In Motor Oil: Prosecutor
Kazem Shirinzad, 35, was charged in connection with leaving a kitten in a box outside an apartment complex in Fort Lee earlier this month.

FORT LEE, N.J. — Animal cruelty charges has been filed against a man who allegedly left a 6-month-old kitten covered in motor oil in box outside a high-rise apartment complex on Palisade Avenue earlier this month, authorities said.
The Bergen County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) issued summonses to Kazem Shirinzad, 35, said Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

Shirinzad was charged with abandoning a domestic animal, inflicting unnecessary cruelty upon a living animal, two counts of failure to proving a living animal with necessary care, and carrying an animal in an inhumane manner, Grewal said.
The kitten, now called Olive Oil, was taken to Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus where she was cared for and treated. She was then taken to animal shelter.

Follow up investigation by members of the Bergen County SPCA and Fort Lee police detectives led authorities to Shirinzad, who works in Palisades Park.
The Bergen County SPCA received $1,700 in donations to help care for the kitten.
