Man's Body Recovered In Palisades Interstate Park Sunday

The body of a 35-year-old Palisades Park man was found at the bottom of the cliffs in the Palisades Interstate Park in Alpine Sunday, police said.

Palisades Interstate Park police found a vehicle at 8 p.m. Saturday parked at the State Line Lookout in Alpine after the park had closed, authorities said.

Police officers from multiple agencies searched the park Saturday night; at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, the body of John Norton, 35, of Palisades Park, was found 320 feet below the cliffs, police said.

Members of the Regional Rappel Response team, including Englewood Cliffs, responded and recovered the victim’s body.

Authorities determined that “Norton’s death was caused by no other actions other than his own.”
