Police: Woman In Her 40s Jumps Off The GWB Early Friday Morning

No identification was found on her, police said.

A woman in her 40s jumped off of the George Washington Bridge early Friday morning, police reported.

A witness reported seeing the woman jump from the north walk at 5:40 a.m., said Joseph Pentagnelo, a Port Authority spokesman.

The woman died and her body was taken to the Bergen County medical examiner, Pentagnelo said.

No identification was found on the woman and no vehicle was found at the bridge, he said.

Ten people have died from jumping off of the bridge so far this year, Pentangelo said, and Port Authority Police have stopped 26 people from jumping.
