Port Authority Police Increasing Patrols At George Washington Bridge

Agency is on 'heightened alert,' following Paris terrorist attacks.

Port Authority Police officers are increasing their checks of vehicles at the George Washington Bridge following the Paris terrorist attacks, authorities said.

Port Authority Police are on “heightened alert” at all of the agency’s bridge, tunnel, rail, and other facilities, including the World Trade Center following the terrorist attacks at six locations in Paris where at least 129 people were killed more than 350 injured.

Agency officers are increasing how often they check commuters’ bags as well.

“Travelers are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to police or other authorities,” said Joe Pentangelo, public information officer for the Port Authority Police Department.
