Rotary of The Palisades Collecting Used Bikes

The Rotary Club of The Palisades to hold its annual used

bike drive in the Leonia Muncipal Parking Lot on Broad Avenue and Beechwood Place. Sunday, June 15, from noon to 3pm.

Drive conducted in cooperation with Pedals for Progress (P4P), organization dedicated to recycling and shipping adult and kids bikes to needy people in developing countries. P4P also collecting working portable sewing machines and wrenches to be used in their overseas shops. Bikes should be rust free. Not accepting “bikes for parts” or disassembled bikes. No trikes, but bikes with flat tires in need of some repair are accepted.  Please donate bikes you no longer use to this worthy cause.

It costs $40 to collect, process, ship, rebuild and distribute each bicycle. Donation toward shipping costs is necessary (suggested minimum $10 per bike).  All cash and material donations are fully tax deductible and a receipt will be available at the collection site.  An anonymous Leonia resident has generously pledged to cover the cost of the $10 donation on up to 50 bikes!

If you cannot make the date, a prior pickup of your old bike or sewing machine can be scheduled. For more information contact Arthur Aranda at (201) 741-1537 or aranda1492@gmail.com.
