Grandmother, 5-Year-Old Injured In Little Ferry Fire Die: Police
Firefighters performed CPR on the little girl at the scene, police said.

The 5-year-old girl and her grandmother, who were taken out of a burning Little Ferry house Tuesday night, died Wednesday, police confirmed.
Police Chief Ralph Verdi confirmed the girl's death. Two firefighters took the girl out of the three-story house and performed CPR on her at the scene before she was taken to the hospital.
Verdi confirmed Wednesday night that the grandmother died as well, NorthJersey.com reported.

Ten people were injured in the blaze: Seven residents, including a 6-year-old and the 5-year-old's grandmother, and three police officers. The police officers suffered smoke inhalation, Verdi said.
Some people suffered broken bones from jumping out of windows, others were burned by the flames, police said.

A father, identified by The Record as David Lucero, 43, pushed his three daughters and wife out of a second-story window, which he then jumped out of himself, police said; he broke his collarbone and several ribs in the fall, Verdi said.
"We're just sorting everything out and trying to make sense of everything," Verdi said.
Firefighters found the 5-year-old girl after her mother jumped out of third-floor window and suffered compound fractures, authorities said.
The 5-year-old girl and her grandmother were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, police said. Firefighters pulled the grandmother out of a window. She was severely burned and was later taken to the burn unit at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Three families lived in the house, one on the first floor and another on the second, Verdi said. An older woman lived alone in the back the house.
Verdi said authorities are still trying to determine what caused the blaze.
