The Fort Lee Film Commission's Movies & Music Under the Stars 2013 Concludes in Swinging Style

The 13th season of the Fort Lee Film Commission's Movies & Music Under the Stars concluded this past Saturday night, September 7th, in style at the Jack Alter Fort Lee Community Center outdoor stage.  This year has been the most successful season to date and our crowds built each week of this 10-week summer event.  

This week we welcomed back to our stage Swingadelic, brought to us via our contact with Christine Vitale of WFDU radio.  This modern day big band hit jazz, jump music, and swing to the delight of our capacity audience.  Swingadelic , along with such entertainers / bands this season as Joe Bataan, Brother Jocephus and the Love Revolution, The Royal Teens, Double Tap, The Party Dolls, Roosevelt Dime, The Doughboys and The Nerds provided a wonderful summer of live music here in Fort Lee.  Add to this the great selection of films we screened following the music, such as "Oz The Great and Powerful" , Fort Lee was the place to be each Saturday night.

This past week the Fort Lee Film Commission was proud to present, following Swingadelic, Fort Lee High School filmmaker and dancer Jiho Kim.  Jiho produced a film "Who Are We?" that tied for first in the 2012 Fort Lee Film Commission's Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow Bergen County High School Student Film Fest.  The film was about Jiho and some of is fellow Fort Lee High School dancers and how they struggled to find a place in the community to practice dance.  The result, in addition to an award for the film, was an invitation from the Fort Lee Film Commission to Jiho and his dance troupe to perform on the Fort Lee Community  Center stage this past Saturday night following a screening of Jiho's film.  Our crowds loved their performance and the film.  What an excellent way to end our 2013 Movies & Music Under the Stars.

The Fort Lee Film Commission thanks Mayor Mark Sokolkich and the Fort Lee Council, Borough Administrator Peggy Thomas and Community Center Director Cheryl Westeyn for allowing us to organize this program each summer at the Jack Alter Fort Lee Community  Center.
