Wake Planned For I-95 Bus Accident Victim
Teenager's school posts message mourning boy's untimely death

The wake and funeral for a is scheduled for Labor Day, according to a flier posted on the St. Francis Preparatory School website.
“The St Francis Prep community shares in the grief and shock of this young man's sudden death. Our hearts and prayers are with Daniel Fernandez's family and friends,” the flier reads. According to the website, the teen was about to enter his junior year at the Fresh Meadows, N.Y. school.
Visitation hours for Fernandez are scheduled for 3 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Monday at Kearns Funeral Home, at 103 Old Highway 28 in Whitehouse, N.J., the flier said.

According to posts on a Facebook page created in Fernandez’s memory, friends are also planning a candlelight remembrance ceremony Saturday night.
Fernandez was riding on a bus full of teenagers heading to a Sweet 16 at about 6:30 p.m. Friday when he stuck his head out of a roof hatch on the bus and hit the Fletcher Avenue overpass near the George Washington Bridge, officials said. He was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center around 7 p.m.
