WATCH: Mayor Receives $240,000 Check To Retrofit Rambo House For Affordable Housing

The Civil War-era house used to be a favorite hangout of actors when Fort Lee was the movie capital of the world in the early 20th century.

FORT LEE, N.J. — The once privately-owned Rambo House is being renovated thanks to the efforts of local officials who saved the Civil War-era residence from being razed.

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco present a ceremonial check for $240,000 to Mayor Mark Sokolich, the Fort Lee Housing Authority, and the Fort Lee Assistance and Supportive Housing Corp. The county allocated the money in the form of a Community Development grant.

The money will the used to retrofit the the house to accommodate two units of affordable housing for veterans.

The house served as a set for early western films and was a favorite hangout among actors before the movie capital of the world relocated from Fort Lee to Hollywood.
