‘Code Blue’ Alert Extended In Monmouth County: Where To Find Shelter

Cold weather is expected to continue in the coming days. Here's where you can access warming centers in Monmouth County:

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — A “Code Blue” alert has been extended throughout Monmouth County, keeping warming centers and shelters open to those in need.

“Code Blue” is put in place when temperatures drop below freezing (32°F), and conditions pose a threat to unsheltered individuals.

Following the weekend's winter storm, New Jersey residents are once again bracing for what could be a coastal storm that's expected to begin late on Saturday.

While there's still uncertainty in the storm track as of Tuesday morning, forecasters said there's a 30-40% chance of five inches of snow or more for New Jersey near and southeast of the I-95 corridor, "diminishing to around 20% in the Poconos."

According to the Monmouth County Government, the current “Code Blue” alert has been extended until 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1.
