$2000 Writer's Award for Absegami Senior - Last year's winner, Hasina Noory urges seniors to go for it!

For the eighth consecutive year the Masto/Silvestro Foundation announced it will award one $2000 grant to a graduating Absegami student who submits an outstanding portfolio of writing by April 22, 2014. Interested students should email Masto.Silvestro.Foundation@gmail.com to register and to obtain a copy of the requirements.
Recently, 2013’s winner Hasina Noory encouraged Absegami’s seniors to apply. She said it was one of the more “enjoyable” awards because “you get to compile your most compassionate work, the ones you deem worthy, into a portfolio and submit it. Many of you already have work from Creative Writing or English classes, making the task that much easier. All you need to do is tweak your papers and collect them into the portfolio according to the required format. With such simplicity in the application, it would be foolish to let this opportunity fly by.

Hasina is the daughter of Fazlullah and Alema Noory of Galloway. She credits her father’s belief in the value of education plus the superior teachers at Absegami for her success. This month she begins the first semester of her sophomore year because of credit she was awarded for high school AP scores plus 19 successful credits (3.79 GPA) during her first semester at SUNY Albany. She is an honor curriculum science (pre-med) major but has always loved to write and has found that her goal of becoming a better person fits into her life at SUNY.
