August in Alaska to Hold One More Show Before Moving to Los Angeles

The local band made up of Absegami and Holy Spirit high school students will perform at the Yogo Factory on Saturday night.

in Risley Square will hold a special event tomorrow night, Saturday Sept. 3 to promote new, seasonal flavors.  Attendees will be treated to four ounces of free frozen yogurt, a free Yogo Factory t-shirt, and a performance by Galloway-based, pop rock group, August in Alaska, says owner Brian Peteruzzi.

August in Alaska —which is made up of former students, Bobby Bardenhagen, Jeff Kozek, Cody Rabiger, Michael Rebish, and Holy Spirit High School student, Brittney Bruno— has recently signed to The Books Productions founded by the prominent American songwriter and producer, Lashawn Daniels.

The band will be playing their last hometown show at the Yogo Factory before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a contract with a major label, says bassist Jeff Kozek.

According to Kozek, the band formed a relationship with Daniels after recruiting their newest member and vocalist, Bruno three months ago.

"We've been practicing every day [since then]," he said, because "we've had to relearn all the material with her.

"We're still in the midst of writing [new material] because when we go to California we need to have a couple more songs to [showcase.]"

While the band is scheduled to relocate this month, Kozek says he hopes to squeeze in a few more shows in New Jersey.

"I'm definitely down to play more shows," he said.  But "we have a lot going on."

The band's performance at The Yogo Factory starts at 9 p.m.

Peteruzzi said he hopes to organize more events at the Yogo Factory in the near future.

"I'd like to have something around Halloween," he said, adding he would like to have it "coincide" with Galloway Movie Night, which is usually held on the field across the street from Risley Square.
