Welcome to "Our little blog Patch" with Ava Holly
So now that I've put a few feeling down about "Sandy", I want to move forward and talk about the festivities ! Yay !
Today we celebrate the start of our 5th year as 4 A STAR and we are just beginning to scratch the surface of what I'd like to accomplish. Stay tuned for news about our very first STEPS event to take place on Dec. 8th and our big yearly celebration in January !
Making an appearance at the Zombie Walk in Smithville, was the one and only Grim Reaper ! ( well the fun one !) "The Real Grim Reaper" R aka REAPS took a break from his project at the Hamilton Mall to stop by the Zombie walk and take a few photos. I have to say, I've seen some of the coolest costumes out at the Zombie Walk this year. Everyone was having a blast. The air was a little chilly but the weather was clear and the crowd was into the fun time !
Many people wanted to gather around REAPS. Most didn't know that REAPS is a trademarked character across the U.S. He has appeared on the Today Show and has walked in the NY parade.
His costume was made in Hollywood by some of the biggest people in the business and is also one of a kind. REAPS is fun loving and is on a mission to make people aware that he is not just a Halloween character but someone who can make a difference all year long. We are working on teaming up with the D.A.R.E. program to do just that. Prom events and messages about what can happen when you text and drive etc....
For now, we are having fun at Halloween time. We are still at the Hamilton Mall doing photos with some of the proceeds to benefit D.A.R.E. We will be there all of Halloween day and on Sat. Nov. 2nd, all souls day.
While in Smithville, we were fortunate enough to meet up with the 2 Wendy's ....( Not Wendy Witches... LOL)
Wendie of the Colonial Inn and Wendy of the tea shop, Through the looking glass. Both of these ladies do a lot of work to make Historic Smithville a place to have safe fun, do great things and relax in. We also took photos with Mike and Lucy of Underground who started the Zombie Walk.
Mike also sets up the Art Walk at Smithville , Wendy has the "Authors on the Greene" ( which I had the honor of being in this year), and Wendie takes charge of getting all these things going.
I'd say we have a pretty impressive team over there. Many others in Smithville do their part to bring great events and programs to the community.
The Zombie walk was just one of those great times. What better way to have some fun at Halloween..........For now, REAPS is in the house, and we will catch you all next time in the patch !
