Dormition of the Theotokos Feast Day

August is an important month for Orthodox Christians.  "Dekapentavgoustos" is regarded as the Small Easter, as it observes the celebration of the Dormition of the Theotokos and her ascent to the heavens.    The commemoration and preparation for the feast day begins on August 01 with a strict fast, that lasts until August 15, the Feast day, which is celebrated with the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom in the morning.  Those named Panagiotis, Despina, Maria and Panagiota celebrate their nameday on August 15.

The Paraklesis services, also called the Intercessory services, are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the church. See our schedule at http://galloway.patch.com/groups/events/p/holy-trinity-greek-orthodox-church-sunday-and-feast-day-services-in-august-2013.

The hymns chanted are in Greek and English.  There are copies of the service for everyone to follow along.  We welcome everyone to join us.
