Galloway Charter School Entered Lockdown, No Gunshots Confirmed

A teacher reported hearing a gunshot outside the building, and a neighbor heard a series of loud noises, according to police.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A lockdown ensued at Atlantic Community Charter School on Friday after a teacher reported hearing a gunshot, police said. No one was injured, and police haven't confirmed any gunshots.

The school notified police of the lockdown at about 1:30 p.m. Friday. A teacher believed they heard a gunshot outside the building on 112 S New York Rd.

Police conducted a canvas search and investigated the school grounds and surrounding areas, but they found nothing. One nearby resident reported hearing a series of loud noises.

The lockdown ended at 2:30 p.m., and two officers stayed to help with dismissal at 3 p.m.
